MOUNTAIN CUR
Georgia is the matriarch at Lost Forty. She has a great temperament; calm in the house, but a worker in the woods.
Georgia has been retired from our breeding program & is looking for a new retirement home. See below!
Georgia is 7 years old & 55lbs. She has produced several litters for us & has been retired from breeding for a year now.
She is our combo dog, hunting squirrel during the day & coons at night. She is still a great candidate for a pleasure dog. She is 7, so she needs to slow down some, though she still has the heart of a puppy in the woods & you can't tell her different.
Since she's a combo dog, she is semi-open on the trail. We have never used a collar on her - she is very biddable & easy to recall.
Since she is retired, we have not hunted her in the past year+. She is not in her 'prime' and shouldn't be expected to hunt all day.
She's also a great candidate for a companion. She enjoys napping & lounging around the house.
Georgia gets along well with other dogs, other than meal time - she prefers to eat alone.
She has no health issues. She's current on vaccines, heartworm & flea/tick prevention. She will be spayed before leaving.
Georgia is apprehensive of young children, especially pre-teen & younger. She will need time to adjust to any new people, but especially young people - she does not trust them.
Georgia is not suitable for apartment living. She alerts (barks) to the doorbell, the FedEx delivery guys & anyone else who doesn't 'belong'. She will not let a stranger in your house without you!
She is terrified of thunder, fireworks & gunshots (except when hunting - it makes no sense, I know!). She hides in our bathroom during storms.
Georgia's ideal family will allow her to be an inside companion with her own doggy bed to lounge in. She'd be just as happy in your bed or on the sofa, if you allow it!
Her family should not have very young children, as they make her very nervous. If company comes with children (your grandchildren possibly), we would advise crating her & only introducing them if the children are old enough to remain calm & follow directions.
She would enjoy the occasional, leisurely hunt for squirrels during cooler weather.
Most days she is content to be inside, laying in the sunshine & just being a house dog. That's what retirement is for!
We are asking $500 for Georgia.
